Adalah, the Israeli human rights group, has asserted that the activists of the Global Sumud Flotilla humanitarian convoy detained by Israel were moved to Ashdod Port after a military interception judged to be illegal. Citing Palestine Chronicle, Adalah said the convoy included medical volunteers, human rights activists and others intending to break the Gaza blockade while delivering humanitarian aid. According to Adalah, the activists were arrested and then transported into Israeli territory after refusing a request by Zionist authorities to redirect at the interception in international waters. In a statement, Adalah said the passengers were forcibly brought into Israeli territory after their vessel was seized in international waters. The organisation warned that access to information regarding the whereabouts, legal status and physical condition of the detainees remains severely restricted by Israeli security authorities. The move follows Global Sumud Flotilla campaign organisers announcing that all 50 ships in their convoy had been seized by the Israeli military. According to organisers, the convoy carried 428 participants from 44 countries.
