Israel reports second suspected Ebola case
Tel Aviv (ANTARA) - Israel’s Ministry of Health has reported a second suspected Ebola case in the country, involving a citizen who recently returned from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Laboratory tests on the case are still ongoing. “A citizen who returned to Israel from the DRC two days ago sought medical treatment after experiencing fever, headache, and diarrhoea,” the ministry said in a statement on Sunday. The case is currently classified as suspected. Tests are being conducted and results are expected in the coming days. The patient has been placed in isolation in accordance with protocols for dangerous infectious diseases and is undergoing examination at Sheba Tel Hashomer Medical Center, the referral hospital for such cases. A day earlier, Israel reported its first suspected Ebola case. In May, the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared the Ebola outbreak in DRC and Uganda a health emergency with a risk of spreading to other countries. The WHO assessed the risk of regional spread as still high.
