Jakarta, 27 February 2026 – Indonesia’s Foreign Ministry has stated that the issue of membership contributions to the Board of Peace (BoP) should not obstruct the BoP’s mission to carry out reconstruction and protect civilians in Gaza, Palestine.

This was conveyed by Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Yvonne Mawengkang in response to Israel’s refusal to pay BoP membership contributions.

“We must emphasise that administrative dynamics should at least not hamper the Board of Peace’s mandate. They must not obstruct our focus on protecting civilians. They must not obstruct our focus on various reconstruction efforts and assisting our brothers and sisters in Gaza,” Yvonne stated during a press conference at the Indonesian Foreign Ministry office in Jakarta on Friday (27 February 2026).

In his statement, Foreign Minister Sugiono stressed that Indonesia, as a Board of Peace member, has no mandatory requirement to pay contributions.

“Currently, what we are focusing on is how we can ensure that, with our participation in the Board of Peace, it can truly fulfil its mandate in accordance with the objectives we collectively desire,” Yvonne emphasised.

As such, there has been no recent development regarding whether Indonesia will continue to pay contributions to the Board of Peace or merely send ISF forces to Gaza.

For context, Israel has stated it will not fund the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip despite joining the Board of Peace, which was initiated by United States President Donald Trump.

“We will not fund the Board of Peace; there is no reason to do so,” said Elkin, who also sits on Israel’s Security Cabinet, to government radio Kan Reshet Bet.

According to Kan News reports, the Trump administration has allowed Israel to join the Board of Peace without having to contribute to reconstruction efforts or operational costs of the international organisation.
