In the early hours of Saturday, 7 March, an Israeli drone strike in central Khan Younis killed a father and his daughter. This tragic incident forms part of a relentless wave of attacks by the Israeli military, despite a ceasefire agreement signed on 11 October. According to field correspondents, a separate strike in the same area also killed another person and left a young girl seriously injured.
As global focus shifts to Tehran, Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank continue to face daily aggression. The Israeli military is reported to have conducted air strikes, artillery fire, and naval bombardments in a sustained and brutal manner. Militias affiliated with the Israeli army pushed into the eastern part of the city with heavy fire; a Palestinian police officer was reported abducted. Israeli fighter jets also hit several strategic targets in the eastern area. Meanwhile the Rafah border crossing was again completely closed by Israel following the start of attacks on Iran, cutting off medical evacuation for thousands of critically ill patients.
The Palestinian Health Ministry notes that since the ceasefire was violated last October, 640 Palestinians have been killed and 1,700 wounded. If calculated from the start of the conflict in October 2023, total fatalities have surpassed 72,123, with 171,805 wounded. Human Rights Watch (HRW) in its latest report warns that Israel’s tight restrictions have triggered acute shortages of medicines, building materials, and essential goods for more than two million Gaza residents now living in displacement.
