Israel Kills Al Jazeera Cameraman in Gaza, Claims He Was Hamas Member

Al Jazeera has reported that its cameraman, Ahmed Wishah, was killed in an Israeli airstrike in central Gaza. The strike reportedly targeted a house in the Bureij refugee camp.

In a statement, Al Jazeera said it “strongly condemns the heinous crime of targeting and killing” the Al Jazeera Mubasher correspondent. The network described the attack as a new violation, denouncing Israel’s targeting of journalists.

“This constitutes a new and blatant violation of all international laws and norms, and reflects a continuing systematic policy of targeting journalists and silencing the voice of truth,” the statement read.

At least 10 people were killed in Israeli strikes across Gaza on Saturday.

The Israeli military said it had carried out the strike that killed Al Jazeera journalist Ahmed Wishah in Gaza, accusing Wishah of being a “Hamas terrorist”.

“The IDF confirms it carried out a strike on Ahmed Wishah, who was a Hamas terrorist,” a military spokesperson told AFP. The spokesperson did not immediately provide evidence to support the military’s claim about Wishah, but said “a statement will be issued with further details”.
