Israel Investigates Flydubai Hijacking Attempt, Netanyahu Alleges Perpetrator Underwent Radicalisation

The Israeli government has stated that it is conducting an investigation into the attempted hijacking of a Flydubai aircraft. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that there would be a very high price to pay for the masterminds behind the hijacking.

“As time progresses, the picture of this event becomes increasingly clear: the perpetrator has undergone Islamist radicalisation. He intended to bring down the aircraft along with all the passengers on board,” Netanyahu said in a statement, as reported by AFP on Friday (2/10/2026).

Netanyahu stated that Israeli authorities are investigating the alleged existence of an instigator behind the co-pilot’s actions in hijacking the Flydubai plane. He promised that Israel would impose severe punishment on any party proven to be the mastermind of the hijacking.

“We are investigating whether he was ordered to do this, and anyone who sent him must bear very heavy consequences,” said Netanyahu.

Netanyahu did not name any specific country as a possible perpetrator. However, he alleged that Iran has links to the Flydubai hijacking attempt.
