Israel Intensifies Attacks on Gaza, Nine Martyred on Sunday
GAZA – Nine Palestinian citizens were martyred and approximately 17 others were injured on Sunday as an Israeli drone launched missiles into the Gaza Strip. This attack marks a recent escalation in Israeli strikes.
According to the Palestine Chronicle, one of the attacks targeted a police checkpoint near the Al-Nas intersection on Al-Rashid Road, west of Khan Yunis in southern Gaza. Medical sources identified the victims as Ismail Khairi Bahri Al-Lahham, Muhammad Farid Abd Subh, Mustafa Fawaz Muhammad Adwan, Mustafa Rami Muhammad Abu Yunis, and Hussam Zuhri Mahmoud Al-Tantawi.
In a separate incident on Sunday night, four Palestinians, including a woman, were killed and several others left in critical condition following an Israeli drone strike northwest of Gaza City. Medical sources at Al-Shifa Hospital reported that the drone fired missiles at civilian vehicles and nearby pedestrians near the Al-Buraq School in the Al-Nasr neighbourhood.
These strikes are part of a broader escalation in which Israeli forces are targeting various regions across the Gaza Strip, despite the ceasefire agreement that came into effect in October 2025.
Earlier on Sunday, a Palestinian fisherman was killed and another injured after Israeli naval forces opened fire on a fishing boat off the coast of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza. This incident is the latest in a series of attacks involving Palestinian fishermen operating in Gaza’s coastal waters, where the Israeli navy continues to enforce strict restrictions and frequently targets fishing vessels. The deceased fisherman was identified by local sources as Mohammad Mousa Abu Jiab.
Medical sources reported that the nine Palestinians killed in the Israeli attacks arrived at hospitals in northern, central, and southern Gaza on Sunday. The Palestinian Ministry of Health stated that hospitals in the Gaza Strip received ten bodies and 36 injured Palestinians over the preceding 24 hours. The ministry added that numerous victims remain trapped under rubble or stranded in areas inaccessible to ambulances and civil defence crews.
In its latest daily statistical report, the ministry stated that since the ceasefire took effect on 11 October 2025, Israeli attacks have killed 961 Palestinians and injured 3,020 others, with 782 individuals recovering during the same period. Palestinian officials report that Israeli occupation forces continue to violate the ceasefire through aerial bombardments, artillery fire, and attacks targeting civilians throughout the Gaza Strip.
Ongoing military operations continue nearly two years after the start of the Israeli aggression in Gaza on 7 October 2023. According to the latest figures from the Gaza Ministry of Health, the total number of war casualties has reached 72,971 Palestinian martyrs and 173,128 injured. Palestinian officials and human rights organisations have repeatedly warned that the ongoing attacks, coupled with restrictions on humanitarian aid and the destruction of civilian infrastructure, have exacerbated the humanitarian catastrophe facing the population of Gaza.
