Israel Furious Over US-Iran Peace Deal: We Are Not Part of the Agreement!

Israel’s National Security Minister, Itamar Ben Gvir, has expressed fury over the peace agreement between the United States and Iran aimed at ending the war in the Middle East, including Lebanon. The hardline Israeli minister asserted that his country is not bound by the deal.

“Trump’s deal does not bind us… we are not a party to this agreement. This agreement does not guarantee our security,” Ben Gvir said on his Telegram channel, as reported by AFP on Monday (15/6/2026). This marks the first reaction from an Israeli official to the agreement.

“We must not settle for anything less than the dissolution of Hezbollah. We must not retreat from a single inch of territory that has been captured and cleared of terrorist infrastructure by our soldiers,” the right-wing Israeli minister added.

The US-Iran peace deal was first announced by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday (15/6). Sharif stated that Washington and Tehran had agreed to an “immediate and permanent” cessation of hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon.

Trump later confirmed the peace deal in a separate statement via Truth Social. He announced the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the lifting of the US naval blockade. “The deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete. Congratulations to all parties!” Trump said in his statement. He also signalled the resumption of maritime traffic and energy shipments through the strategic waterway, declaring: “Ships of the world, start your engines. Let the oil flow!”

According to Sharif, the official signing ceremony for the US-Iran peace deal is scheduled to take place on 19 June in Geneva, Switzerland.
