Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health reported that at least 123 people were killed as a result of the latest Israeli strikes against the country, which it claimed targeted the Iran-backed militant group Hizbullah. Hundreds more were wounded by the Tel Aviv bombardment.

Lebanon has been drawn into the Middle East war after Hizbullah attacked Israel on Monday, 3 February, in retaliation for the death of Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, following a joint United States and Israel strike on Saturday, 28 February local time.

In recent days, the Israeli military has bombarded border areas around southern Beirut and southern Lebanon, Hizbullah’s stronghold.

Moreover, the Israeli military has also deployed ground forces to towns along the Israel-Lebanon border.

‘The number of dead from Israeli aggression on Monday, 2 March, has risen to 123 martyrs and 683 others injured,’ Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health said in a statement, as reported by Press TV, Friday 6 March 2026.

The escalating Israeli violence against Lebanon has sparked concerns among humanitarian organisations and the international community about the safety and welfare of civilians in affected areas.

The ongoing Tel Aviv strikes on Lebanon have prompted broad calls for de-escalation and a return to diplomatic dialogue to prevent further loss of life and to promote stability in the region.

Meanwhile, Hizbullah leader Naim Qassem pledged to continue the fight against Israel and to escalate attacks. He claimed Hizbullah has targeted positions in Israel as far as Tel Aviv.

‘We are facing aggression… our choice is to confront it until the last martyr, and we will not surrender,’ Qassem said in his first speech since the latest clashes broke out.

In Iran, Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei condemned the Israeli attacks on Lebanon. He also offered condolences to the families of the dead and to the government and people of Lebanon.

Baghaei criticised the UN Security Council’s silence in addressing the crimes of the Israeli occupying regime, which he said would discredit the world body.
