Israel Continues Attacks on Lebanon After US-Iran Ceasefire, Senior Advisor Mojtaba Loses Patience
Shortly after the announcement of a ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran that included a cessation of hostilities on all fronts—including Lebanon—Israeli occupation forces (IOF) continued attacks and violations in southern Lebanon from the early hours of Monday (15/6), as reported by Al Mayadeen. According to multiple reports, Israeli warplanes launched two airstrikes targeting the town of Majdal Zoun, while a drone strike also hit the town of Kfar Tebnit. The aerial aggression was accompanied by heavy and continuous artillery shelling targeting the towns of Nabatieh, Kfar Remman, Nabatieh al-Fawqa, and Kfar Tebnit. Field reports also indicated additional attacks by occupation forces on the towns of Khiam and Markaba in southern Lebanon, as well as a drone strike on the town of Haris in the Bint Jbeil district of Nabatieh Governorate. Amid the situation, the Civil Defence Directorate of Lebanon’s Islamic Health Authority issued a statement congratulating the public on their steadfastness in returning home with dignity, and paid tribute to the sacrifices of the martyrs and resistance fighters. Nevertheless, the Civil Defence urged residents intending to return to ensure their vehicle fuel tanks are full to avoid breaking down en route. At the same time, residents were asked to prioritise personal safety, as the risk of danger does not immediately end with the announcement of a cessation of hostilities between the US and Iran. The Islamic Health Authority requested residents not to rush back to their villages until the ceasefire and its implementation are confirmed by the authorities. Residents were also asked to follow important guidelines, such as not travelling to villages at night, waiting until morning, and first verifying the safety of routes to affected towns.
