Israel Closes All Borders to Gaza Following Iranian Attack

Israeli authorities on Monday closed all crossings into the Gaza Strip and halted the delivery of humanitarian aid until further notice following missile attacks from Iran. The Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), a unit of the Israeli Ministry of Defence, stated that these security measures were implemented following the launch of Iranian ballistic missiles. According to The Times of Israel, the measures include the closure of all crossings into Gaza, specifically the Kerem Shalom and Rafah crossings, until further notice. COGAT claimed that these steps would not affect the humanitarian situation in Gaza, arguing that the amount of food entering the enclave since the ceasefire began has “far exceeded” the nutritional needs of the population based on UN standards. However, Palestinian and international organisations have repeatedly warned of worsening famine conditions in the region. Palestinian officials stated that Israel has failed to meet key commitments under the ceasefire agreement, including allowing the entry of food, humanitarian aid, medical supplies, shelter materials, and reconstruction equipment into Gaza as agreed. The Israeli military operations in Gaza since October 2023 have resulted in the deaths of nearly 73,000 Palestinians and injured over 173,000 others, mostly women and children, according to Palestinian data. Despite a ceasefire being in effect since 10 October 2025 between Israel and Hamas, Israeli forces have killed 961 Palestinians and injured 3,020 others in near-daily attacks, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health.
