Israel Attacks Palestinian Muslims at Al-Aqsa Mosque During Eid Prayers
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JERUSALEM – Israeli forces occupying Palestine and committing genocide in Gaza have once again violated international law and human rights during the Eid al-Fitr celebrations. On this Islamic holy day, Israel fired tear gas at people gathered for Eid prayers near the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
“Israeli forces attacked Palestinian civilians with tear gas to prevent them from performing Eid prayers near the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex,” stated aljazeeraenglish on its Instagram account, Friday (20/3/2026).
Previously, the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex had been closed by Israeli authorities since late February 2026. The closure coincided with attacks by the United States (US) and Israel against Iran.
In Indonesia, the Chairman of the Presidium of the Aqsa Working Group (AWG), Anshorullah, stated that on this day of victory when Muslims celebrate Eid al-Fitr, the Al-Aqsa Mosque remains under occupation and desecrated by Zionist Israel.
“Therefore, it is time for us to take action. The AWG calls to defend Al-Aqsa on this Eid al-Fitr occasion,” said Anshorullah to Republika, Friday (20/3/2026).
The AWG calls, during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 H sermon, to highlight the sanctity of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and expose the current occupation and closure conditions. It also calls for prayers for Al-Aqsa, particularly for the safety of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the victory of the Palestinian people.
The AWG also urges worshippers to wear Palestinian attire, showing our solidarity without hesitation. It further calls for infaq for the Al-Aqsa struggle, channelling your best resources to help the Palestinian people and the struggle for the liberation of Al-Aqsa through various action and education activities.
“Move together to free the Al-Aqsa Mosque and Palestine, Allahu Akbar, Al-Aqsa is our right,” said Anshorullah.
Anshorullah reminded that on this day of victory, as Muslims celebrate Eid al-Fitr with full joy, remember that it has been nearly three weeks since the Al-Aqsa Mosque has been under pressure and total blockade, which continues to this day.
“As we gather with our families, our brothers in Palestine are still struggling just to be able to worship in their own homeland,” said Anshorullah.
The AWG invites everyone to rally solidarity and offer prayers because the Al-Aqsa Mosque is the responsibility of the entire Muslim ummah.
