Israel Approves International Stabilisation Force for Gaza Under Trump Plan

Israel’s security cabinet has officially approved the plan to deploy the International Stabilisation Force (ISF) to the Gaza Strip, Palestine. The move forms part of the post-conflict administration scheme proposed by United States President Donald Trump.

The strategic decision was taken amid internal dynamics within the Israeli government marked by sharp differences of opinion. According to the Hebrew-language outlet Israel Hayom, the cabinet gave the green light for the formation of the multinational force to be stationed in the Palestinian enclave.

Despite receiving cabinet approval, the plan faced fierce rejection from National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir. He deemed the ISF deployment premature on the grounds that Hamas has yet to meet the conditions for disarmament.

“Hamas has not fulfilled its commitment to disarm the Gaza Strip. Therefore, we are not obliged to do so either,” Ben Gvir stated in remarks to Yedioth Ahronoth.

Beyond opposing the presence of an international force, Ben Gvir once again voiced his controversial agenda of pushing for the emigration of Gaza residents out of the territory.

In contrast to Ben Gvir, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar declared his support for the cabinet’s decision. Saar stressed the importance of Israel not obstructing the global initiative currently being drawn up.

“This is an international plan and we may not succeed in it, but we should not be the party that sabotages it,” Saar said, as quoted by Middle East Monitor on Tuesday (28/7).

The cabinet approval also encompasses the sanctioning of the construction of the ISF headquarters, which will be located near the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip. Under the framework proposed by Donald Trump, the ISF will be one of four principal bodies managing the temporary administration of Gaza once the conflict ends.
