Israel and Iran Agree to Halt Attacks, but Threats Persist

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stated that Israel has halted its attacks against Iran. This announcement follows a period of reciprocal strikes between the two parties since the ceasefire. “At this time, the fighting on the front lines has been brought under control; after we attacked the terror regime in Tehran, they stopped attacking us,” Netanyahu said in a statement, as reported by AFP on Tuesday (9/6/2026).

Nevertheless, Netanyahu warned Iran against making a mistake, threatening a full-scale retaliation if Iran resumes its attacks. “If Iran makes the mistake of launching attacks against us again, we will respond with full force,” he asserted.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian previously stated that Tehran remains at the negotiating table. He noted that his country has ceased attacks against Israel following the initial exchange of fire since the ceasefire in April. “Diplomacy and defence are the two wings of national strength. We are leaving neither the battlefield nor the negotiating table,” said Pezeshkian, adding that “Tehran will not back down in the face of any threats.”

Iran’s military command, Khatam al-Anbiya, has also announced the cessation of operations against Israel. However, they emphasised that if acts of aggression continue, including in Southern Lebanon, they are prepared to launch further retaliatory strikes. “It is emphasised that if acts of aggression and hostility continue, including in Southern Lebanon, much harsher and more destructive measures than before will follow,” the command stated.
