ISO 9001 for PLN unit

JAKARTA (JP): Electrical engineering service firm PT PLN Jasa Enjiniring, a subsidiary of state-owned electricity company PLN, received yesterday ISO 9001 certification from Geneva's Societe Generale de Surveillance (SGS).

PLN Jasa Enjiniring chairman Mekar Napitupulu said that by accepting ISO certification the company had taken a step further toward anticipating competition during the coming free trade era in the region.

PT PLN Jasa Enjiniring was founded in 1985 to design engineering, and develop power plants, power transmission and distribution systems. Its customers include PLN and private power generators.

Based in Jakarta, the company has 450 employees, including 250 experienced electrical engineers, he said (jsk)
