Islands sprayed against Malaria

SUMENEP, East Java: A number of islets off the tip of Madura Island have been fumigated to prevent the spread of malaria.

The action was taken after a resident died of the disease on Wednesday, and 35 others had to be admitted to the hospital, said chief of the Sumenep health office Muda'im.

The sprayed islands included Sedulang, which is believed to be the seat of the mosquitoes causing malaria, Antara reported. (par)
