Islamic Unity Party Appreciates Prabowo's Commitment to Eradicating Corruption
Persatuan Umat Islam (PUI) has expressed its appreciation for President Prabowo Subianto’s commitment to strengthening the anti-corruption agenda in the country. The government’s firm steps in driving law enforcement in a number of major cases are seen as a crucial momentum for creating a clean, accountable and pro-people system of state governance.
The Chairman of the PUI Central Executive Board, Raizal Arifin, asserted that eradicating corruption is not merely an administrative requirement, but a constitutional mandate and a moral obligation of those who run the state. For this reason, President Prabowo’s commitment to accelerating law enforcement must be safeguarded by all elements of the nation so that it delivers real change.
“We applaud President Prabowo’s commitment to strengthening corruption eradication. This is an important moment to rebuild public trust through law enforcement that is just, professional and impartial,” he said in Bandung on Thursday (16/7).
He added that the state must be present to ensure every rupiah of the people’s money is managed with integrity in order to bring prosperity to society.
Echoing Raizal, the Deputy Chairman of the PUI Central Executive Board, Irfan Ahmad Fauzi, stressed that the public now places great hope in law enforcement agencies working transparently and objectively.
He highlighted a number of high-profile corruption cases that must be prioritised, ranging from the alleged corruption in coal supplies for steam power plants (PLTU) with state losses reaching Rp5 trillion, to alleged irregularities in the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme.
“We hope this momentum will be used to clean up governance while proving that no one is above the law. Every case must be seen through to the end, uncovering the intellectual actors, the networks and all those who benefited from the corruption,” he affirmed.
CASE RESOLUTION
In addition, Irfan also pushed for the resolution of the case involving the former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), as well as the various sting operations (OTT) and regional head corruption cases currently unfolding at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
According to Irfan, corruption remains a serious threat to national development. Such fraudulent practices not only cost the state trillions of rupiah, but also hamper public services and erode public trust in state institutions.
PUI declared its full support for the National Police, the Attorney General’s Office and the KPK to continue working in synergy.
Irfan stressed that corruption eradication must not stop at arresting the perpetrators in the field.
“What is more important is dismantling the entire network, recovering state losses, fixing the governance system and ensuring similar practices do not recur. This is what will become an important legacy for the nation’s future,” he affirmed.
In closing, Raizal Arifin invited all components of the nation, from religious figures and the world of education to civil society, to work together to build a culture of integrity.
“With President Prabowo’s leadership and the support of all elements of the nation, we are optimistic that the anti-corruption agenda can move forward more strongly as the foundation towards Golden Indonesia 2045,” he concluded.
