Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Backs Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei as Iran's New Supreme Leader
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has declared its support for the decision of the Assembly of Experts (Majlis-e Khobregan) to select Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei as Iran’s new Supreme Leader.
According to Iranian media outlet Tasnim News, in a statement issued following the election of the new Supreme Leader, the IRGC stated that it is fully prepared to comply with the orders of Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei and to protect the values of the Islamic Revolution.
The IRGC described the election of the new Supreme Leader as a new awakening and the beginning of a new phase in the Islamic Revolution and the Islamic Republic.
The IRGC also stated that the election of the new Supreme Leader will help the Iranian people bear the deep sorrow over the death of the previous Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, more effectively.
The Assembly of Experts has appointed Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei as the new Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution. Following the death of Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, who led Iran for 37 years, the Assembly of Experts selected Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei as the third Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution.
