PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Operational Area 6 Yogyakarta is operating three additional train journeys to welcome the Islamic New Year 1 Muharam 1448 Hijriah holiday period, which falls on 16 June 2026. This measure anticipates an increase in passenger numbers.

KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta Public Relations Manager Feni Novida Saragih stated that the additional journeys are being made to accommodate the community’s transport needs, which are expected to rise during the long religious holiday period.

“The momentum of the Islamic New Year holiday is expected to increase public mobility, whether for tourism, family gatherings, or business. These additional journeys represent KAI’s commitment to providing extra capacity so that customers can travel safely, comfortably, and on time,” said Feni, as quoted from Antara, Sunday, 14 June 2026.

The three additional train sets being operated are the KA Batavia Tambahan for the Solo Balapan-Gambir route (round trip), the KA Sancaka Fakultatif for the Yogyakarta-Surabaya Gubeng route (round trip), and an Additional Train for the Yogyakarta-Gambir route (round trip).

Feni urged the public to plan their journeys immediately and book tickets early through various official KAI ticket sales channels to secure their desired departure schedules.

She also reminded customers to arrive at the station well before their departure time and to double-check their travel details to avoid discrepancies during the verification process.

“We invite the public to utilise train services as an efficient and environmentally friendly mode of transport. KAI Daop 6 remains committed to delivering safe, secure, and comfortable services through the readiness of both facilities and infrastructure,” she said.

For further information regarding ticket availability and schedules, the public can access the KAI contact centre on 121, via WhatsApp on 0811-2223-3121, or through PT KAI’s official social media channels.
