Islamic New Year a Momentum to Transform Habits into Productivity
The Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs for DKI Jakarta has stated that the commemoration of the Islamic New Year 1 Muharram 1448 H is not merely ceremonial, but a momentum for Muslims to make changes towards new, more productive habits. “May this momentum of the Islamic New Year 1448 H become a bright spot towards a more positive and conducive world for the establishment of a more just, prosperous and affluent order of life,” said Head of the DKI Jakarta Ministry of Religious Affairs Regional Office, Adib, in Jakarta on Tuesday. He said that the spirit of migration towards improvement must become part of every Muslim’s pulse, so that this year becomes better than the previous one in various aspects. According to Adib, the Islamic New Year commemoration, which falls close to the 499th anniversary of Jakarta City, is a momentum to make Jakarta a better city. “And to continue encouraging all its citizens to be more prosperous, both physically and spiritually,” he said. Meanwhile, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government enlivened the Islamic New Year commemoration at Taman Bendera Pusaka, Kebayoran, South Jakarta, with an electric torch parade. The use of electric torches is an adaptation to weather conditions while considering safety aspects, without diminishing the philosophical value of the tradition. Through the spirit of the 1 Muharram 1448 H Festival, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government invites all citizens to strengthen synergy, maintain environmental cleanliness, and care for the city in preparation for Jakarta’s transformation into a global city.
