Islamic books on display

JAKARTA (JP): An exhibition of Islamic books and technology
will be held at the Jakarta Hilton Convention Center from Dec. 3
to Dec. 8.

Mahmud F. Rakasima, spokesperson for the organizing committee,
said yesterday that as well as books on Islam, books on the
results of research and technology development will also be on
display to the public.

The current chair of the Association of Indonesian Moslem
Intellectuals, B.J. Habibie, is scheduled to officially open the
exhibition.

A number of local and foreign publishers will join the
exhibition, which is part of the association's second national
congress, Mahmud said.

"The target of the exhibition is all layers of society,
including the younger generation," Mahmud said.

The theme of the exhibition is The Role of Books in Improving
the Human Resources Quality in the Wake of 2000.

The exhibition will be open to public everyday from 10 a.m. to
9 p.m. (sur)
