The closure means this boarding school is no longer permitted to operate; it has been permanently shut down,” said Ahmad Syaiku, Head of the Pati District Ministry of Religious Affairs Office, to reporters, as reported by detikJateng on Friday (8/5/2026). Syaiku stated that the Ministry of Religious Affairs offers no tolerance whatsoever to perpetrators of sexual violence against children. He also invited the public to monitor this case until it is fully resolved. “We invite everyone to help monitor this process until it is complete. We are all concerned because this truly harms the reputation of pesantren, where pesantren serves as a container for character building,” he said. Syaiku mentioned that his office has undertaken several efforts to handle the affected students. As of 5 May 2026, the operational permit of the said pesantren has been officially revoked. “First, on 4 May 2026, the Ministry of Religious Affairs conducted field verification. We decided to recommend that the pesantren have its permit revoked, and on 5 May 2026, alhamdulillah, the operational permit of the pesantren has been declared revoked,” he explained. Syaiku also guaranteed the continuity for the children at the pesantren. He explained that there are 252 students at the pesantren, comprising RA, MI, SMP, and MA levels.
