Islamic Boarding School Leader in Bogor Arrested for Molesting Female Students Under Guise of Cupping Treatment

Police have named the leader of an Islamic boarding school in Tajurhalang, Bogor Regency, West Java, as a suspect in the molestation of a female student. The perpetrator, identified by the initial N, allegedly carried out the abuse under the guise of providing medical treatment through cupping therapy.

The incident began in November 2024 when the suspect, known as Buya, was teaching the victim classical Islamic texts on the terrace of his home. After the lesson, the victim complained of numbness in her legs, prompting Buya to instruct her not to return to the dormitory. Under the pretext of examining her condition, the suspect then molested the victim, who attempted to resist.

N subsequently offered to perform cupping therapy on the parts of the victim’s body that were still painful from a previous fall. The victim agreed to the treatment. However, due to fear and shock at the treatment she received from a person she deeply respected at the Al Aimmatul Arbaah Islamic Boarding School, she did not disclose the incident to anyone.

Police have now formally detained N at the Bojonggede Police Station. The investigation has also implicated N’s son, identified as S, who is suspected of committing similar acts of molestation. S is currently being treated as a witness while the investigation continues. Three victims have filed official police reports as of 9 June 2026. Reports indicate that the alleged abuse by N has been occurring since 2019 within the boarding school environment, while the alleged abuse by his son S has been reported since 2024. News of the abuse spread within the school community, leading victims to share information with one another.
