Islam end colonialism
Islam end colonialism
From Republika
The month of August is considered sacred by Indonesians
because Indonesia's independence was proclaimed on Aug. 17, 1945.
Understandably, every time the month of August arrives, members
of neighborhood communities work together to prepare a festive
celebration for the Indonesian Independence Day.
In a festive mood for Independence Day, the nation can feel
free and forget any suffering. However, has it ever occurred to
us to ask this question: "Are we really free and independent?"
The IMF and the World Bank continue to drown us with loans.
Unfortunately, we are not getting better, but getting worse. Then
we must comply with whatever the creditors tell us to do.
Whatever we do must comply with the agenda of our creditors.
In culture, we have sustained wave after wave of globalization
and westernization. We have forgotten our own culture. Now that
we have a lot of private television stations, the penetration of
foreign culture has been much facilitated. Don't be surprised
that our children are proud of having Americans as their heroes.
Then there is the Western fashions that exposes our bodies, and
premarital sex and hedonism seem to be the lifestyles of our
teenagers.
Let's use Aug. 17, 2002, as the momentum to liberate ourselves
from all forms of colonialism. The only way to reach glory is to
return to Islam, with the principle of tauhid (unity of God),
namely that we serve only God.
We need a new fight to liberate human beings from the shackles
of secular ideologies, the law of pagan ignorance, the capitalist
economy and Western culture. Otherwise, we will always be
colonized and fall into the abyss of humiliation. So only Islam
can break the shackles of colonial capitalists.
