ISI Denpasar to hold joint exhibition
YOGYAKARTA: As many as 39 lecturers and three students from the
Indonesian Institute of Fine Arts (ISI) Denpasar are to hold a
joint fine arts exhibition titled Jejak Tradisi dalam Ekspresi
Modern II at H. Widayat Museum, Kota Mungkid, Magelang, Central
Java, from Sept. 5 to Sept. 12, 2004.
Speaking at a media conference held here in Yogyakarta, Head
of the Fine Arts Department of ISI Denpasar's School of Fine Arts
and Design I Wayan Karja, who is also coordinator of the
exhibition, said that some 74 different works of art, including
paintings, sculpture, photographs and ceramics, would be
exhibited at the week-long exhibition.
"It's being held as a way of showing our responsibility to
the public that, while giving lectures to students, we also still
manage to continue to create works of art," Karja said, adding
that the exhibition was also a part of a department annual event
that started last year.
The first exhibition held outside Bali was in December last
year at Taman Budaya Yogyakarta Societet Building. The next is
scheduled for next month in the East Java town, Malang.
"We're lucky that this year we can hold two exhibitions
outside Bali," said Karja, adding that next year's event would
likely be held in Jakarta, while that for 2006 would be held in
the West Java capital city, Bandung. -- JP
