ISI Bali Awards International Honour to Ambassador Fadjroel Rachman
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Bali has awarded the prestigious international Bali Bhuwana Nata Kerthi Nugraha 2026 to the Indonesian Ambassador to Kazakhstan, Dr. M. Fadjroel Rachman. The award, presented at the ISI Bali graduation ceremony, serves as appreciation for Dr. M. Fadjroel Rachman’s contributions to developing thought that bridges art, science, and global humanism. “This is the first time I have experienced such a grand and majestic graduation atmosphere, a blend of Bali’s and Indonesia’s traditional and modern cultural richness. An unforgettable experience of artistic and intellectual flavour, truly monumental,” said Dr. M. Fadjroel Rachman. The award was handed over directly by the Rector of ISI Bali, Prof. Dr. I Wayan “Kun” Adnyana, during a special ceremony held at Kirtya Sabda Mahottana, ISI Bali, on Friday, 27 February 2026. He received the prestigious international award alongside Jeon Dongsu (South Korea) and Mohd. Asri bin Abdul Ghafar (Malaysia). Ambassador Fadjroel also took the opportunity to deliver a scientific oration titled “Symbolic Revolution of Art and Science, Meta-Revolution of Global Humanism” at the Open Senate Session, which was part of the ISI Bali graduation ceremony. “I am confident that the progressive development of art and science will lead towards a meta-revolution of global humanity, for the happiness of global humanity,” he concluded. This event serves as tangible proof that art, science, and diplomacy can synergise in building a humanistic and sustainable civilisation. ISI Bali also participated in the “Bali Night Festival” in Astana, Kazakhstan, in 2023, celebrating Indonesia’s Independence Day, attended by over 1,000 spectators. “Bali immediately became ‘top of mind’ for people in Kazakhstan, Central Asia, Eurasia, and foreign diplomats,” stated Ambassador Fadjroel. The graduation procession was lively and solemn, enlivened by various Balinese artistic performances such as dances and songs that were grand and full of meaning. Previously, Dr. M. Fadjroel Rachman also read poetry from the special anthology “Red Snow of the Gulag and the Demon of Exile” (2026) together with poet Warih Wisatsana, as well as a special performance by Dr. Riri Riza reading Dr. M. Fadjroel Rachman’s poem titled “Birthday Dance”. Ambassador Fadjroel’s works, including “Nusakambangan Trilogy” and “Democracy Without Democrats”, as well as his dissertation book “Indonesia Chooses a President: Analysis of Class Habitus Towards Indonesian Voters”, have received other international awards following the launch of the book “Indonesian Literary Lexicon 2025” in Russian by Dr. Victor A. Pogadaev from Lomonosov Moscow State University. He is also included as an Indonesian figure in “Successful People in Indonesia 2025” (Britishpedia).
