ISI art troupe performs in Taiwan

A special cultural envoy from The Denpasar Arts Institute (ISI), is now performing at the prestigious Asia-Pacific Cultural Arts Festival 2004 in Yilam, Taiwan, from Sept. 29 through Oct. 11.

During the event, ISI students and lecturers will present an elaborate Balinese traditional wedding procession. A wedding couple, clad in exquisite, glittering wedding costumes, will open the procession, which involves dozens of gamelan players and dancers.

During the procession, a number of Balinese traditional dances will be performed to entertain visitors.

Dr. I Wayan Rai, ISI's rector, commented that this cultural event is the best venue to promote Bali and Indonesia on the international stage.

ISI artists will act as cultural ambassadors. "We are trying to present all types of Balinese performing art forms," said the rector before leaving for Taiwan. --JP
