ISCI Cricket Club defeats NJCC

JAKARTA (JP): John Stevenson's bat carried local ISCI Cricket Club past North Jakarta Cricket Club (NJCC) last Sunday in a semifinal match of the Synergy Trophy on the grounds of the Ceylon Cricket Club (CCC) in Cibubur, East Jakarta.

Stevenson scored 75 runs as ISCI put up a score of 7 for 173. Paul Huston, 31 runs, and Wilfred Schultz, 22 runs, also helped ISCI's winning effort. Ashwin, bowling for NJCC, gave up 36 runs and took two wickets in seven overs. Bowler Sunil Tikku attempted to keep NJCC in the match, taking one wicket and surrendering 24 runs in the last few overs.

NJCC won the toss and asked ISCI to bat. The match was restricted to 35 overs.

Chasing a score of 173, NJCC put on a brave face, but lost the match with their score of 163 all out, thanks in large part to tight bowling and fielding by ISCI in the final overs. Jimmy scored 44 runs for NJCC and John Stevenson, bowling for ISCI, gave up 38 runs and took 3 wickets.

The final will be held this Sunday between ISCI and Indorama Cricket Club at CCC in Cibubur. (lnt/anj)
