Isbat Session Determines 1 Syawal 1447 H Falls on Saturday, 21 March 2026
The government, through the Ministry of Religious Affairs, has announced the determination of Eid al-Fitr or 1 Syawal 1446 Hijriah falling on Saturday, 21 March 2026, based on the results of the Isbat session. Minister of Religious Affairs, Nasaruddin Umar, explained that, according to hisab, today’s data does not meet the MABIMS visibility criteria of 6 degrees, 6 minutes, and 11 seconds. “It is agreed that the date of 1 Syawal 1447 H falls on Saturday, 21 March 2026 CE,” said Nasaruddin Umar at the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Central Jakarta, on Thursday, 19 March 2025. The Isbat session held at the Ministry of Religious Affairs office was also attended by several Islamic social organisations and representatives from friendly countries. In this regard, the Indonesian government through the Ministry of Religious Affairs uses a combined method in determining the hilal and setting 1 Syawal 1447 H. These include the methods of hisab and rukyat, referring to the MABIMS criteria (Ministers of Religious Affairs of Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore), which are then determined through the Isbat session.
