Is it difficult to nab Tommy?
Is it difficult to nab Tommy?
From Mimbar Ummat
It defies logic that our police and security apparatuses have found it difficult to arrest Tommy Soeharto. Searches conducted at his house and at the houses of family are ridiculous. Few bet that Tommy could be found there. These searches have shown a lack of professionalism by the authorities.
Tommy is no ordinary man like Soewondo or other suspects. Tommy has had a meeting with President Abdurrahman Wahid. It is not unlikely that a deal has been struck between them. The fact is that Tommy is still at large. It should be easy to find him unless he is under someone's protection.
Our intelligence must know his whereabouts but there is a thick wall protecting him. This protective wall has been put up by the present ruler of the country. In simple terms, it will always be difficult to nab Tommy.
How long will this Tommy drama will continue? Only God knows. What is certain is the longer this matter drags the more remote it will be in the public's mind. The end of the story is that Tommy will never be arrested. Or, perhaps there will be a miracle? All of a sudden, Tommy comes to the Attorney General's office to surrender himself. Is this at all possible?
