Is education for the rich only?
Is education for the rich only?
From Bisnis Indonesia
State universities that are state-owned statutory bodies -- the University of Indonesia, Gadjah Mada University, Bandung Institute of Technology and Diponegoro University -- have introduced a special procedure for accepting freshmen. This policy merely shows how absurd our management of education has become.
As entrance fees can amount to as much as hundreds of millions of rupiah, only children from well-off families can be accepted at these universities under this special procedure. If this procedure is successful, it will be applied at other state universities. If that were to happen, it would be very obvious that our government sided only with the rich.
