Irian forms AIDS task force

JAYAPURA, Irian Jaya: The local administration has set up a
task force in charge of disseminating information on venereal
diseases, especially the deadly Acquired Immune Deficiency
Syndrome (AIDS).

The task force was formed to help curb the spread of AIDS and
to intensify information campaigns on venereal disease for high
risk groups, Gunawan Ingkokosumo of the local health office said.

He said the public can obtain information on AIDS and the
Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) that causes the syndrome for
free.

The number of local people testing HIV positive has reached
65, Antara reported.(rms)
