IRGC states 23 vessels transited Strait of Hormuz in 24 hours
Tehran (ANTARA) - The Navy of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran said on Wednesday (27 May) that 23 vessels transited the Strait of Hormuz in the past 24 hours after obtaining permits from their forces. The vessels, including oil tankers, containers, and commercial vessels, transited the waterway under coordination and protection of IRGC forces, according to an IRGC Navy statement published on its official outlet, Sepah News. The IRGC Navy also stated Iran maintains continuous and robust ’ smart control ’ over the Strait of Hormuz. ’ Aggression and malicious intentions by “US terrorist forces” are the primary cause of insecurity in the Persian Gulf, ’ the Navy added. Iran has tightened control over the Strait of Hormuz since 28 February, when it banned vessels owned or affiliated with Israel and the US from passing safely following a joint US-Israel attack on Iranian territory. The US has also imposed a maritime blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, preventing vessels bound for and from Iranian ports from transiting the waterway.
