IRGC says it will use 'devastating' weapons if a new war breaks out

Tehran (ANTARA) - Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has said the country will use more “devastating” weapons if a new war against Iran breaks out.

Following the 12-day and 40-day wars imposed on the country in June 2025 and late February 2026 by the United States and Israel, Iran has enhanced its military capabilities, IRGC spokesman Hossein Mohebbi said in an interview with Iranian news agency Defa Press published on Thursday (20/8).

“If war breaks out again, our weapons will certainly be different … in terms of the generation of missile warheads, as well as their level of precision and range,” Mohebbi said.

The spokesman stressed that Iran has never halted its weapons production.

“The destructive power of the warheads used on the IRGC’s new missiles is far greater compared to the models used in previous wars,” Mohebbi said.

On 28 February, Israel and the US launched a joint attack on Tehran and several other cities in Iran, killing Iran’s then supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, as well as a number of military commanders and civilians. Iran responded with waves of missile and drone strikes targeting Israel and US military bases and assets in the Middle East region.

A ceasefire between the warring parties was reached on 8 April.

On 18 June, Iran and the US signed a memorandum of understanding on ending the war on all fronts in the region.

However, conflict between the two countries has repeatedly broken out since then.
