IRGC: Iran Able to Conduct Intensive Combat Operations for Six Months
Tehran (ANTARA) - Iran is capable of conducting intensive combat operations for at least six months, said Ali Mohammad Naini, envoy of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), on Sunday.
“Iran’s armed forces have the capability to launch intensive warfare for at least six months at the current pace,” Naini said, as quoted by Iran’s state broadcaster.
According to him, Iran’s military arsenal includes heavy ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, as well as various types of drones and attack ships, and is ready to face large-scale and protracted warfare.
“There is no reason to worry,” Naini added.
He also added that Iran plans to use longer-range missiles that are more advanced and less commonly used in the coming days.
On 28 February, the United States and Israel launched attacks against a number of targets in Iran, including in Tehran, causing damage and civilian casualties. Iran then retaliated by attacking Israel and US military facilities in the Middle East region.
The US and Israel initially stated that the preemptive strike was necessary to counter a threat believed to originate from Iran’s nuclear program, but they quickly stated that they want to see a change of power in Iran.
The Supreme Leader of Iran Ali Khamenei died on the first day of the military operation. The Islamic Republic of Iran then declared a 40-day period of mourning.
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin described Khamenei’s killing as a cynical violation of international law. Russia’s Foreign Ministry also condemned the US-Israeli military operation and called for immediate de-escalation and an end to hostilities.
