Tehran (ANTARA) - Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said on Monday it had targeted American bases in Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait in retaliation for US strikes on Iranian coastal provinces earlier that day. In a statement published by its official news outlet, Sepah News, the IRGC said the US military had conducted air strikes against several coastal military bases on Sunday evening local time after the IRGC intercepted two vessels committing “violations” in the Strait of Hormuz. In the first phase of its retaliatory operation, the IRGC said its forces set fire to large missile silos and fuel tanks at the Prince Hassan Air Base in Jordan by firing missiles and drones. In the second phase of the attack, the IRGC said it struck helicopter maintenance and repair centres, hangars for P-8 reconnaissance aircraft, and a drone command and control centre at the US base in Sheikh Isa, Bahrain. In the third phase, they stated that the IRGC destroyed a fuel depot, Patriot air defence systems, and FPS radar facilities at US bases in Kuwait. In a statement on platform X on Sunday evening local time, US Central Command said it had “completed a new wave of offensive strikes against Iran”, hitting Iranian air defence systems, coastal radar sites, and missile and drone capabilities.
