IRGC Claims Attacks on US Bases in Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan

Tehran - Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has stated its forces launched new retaliatory attacks against a number of United States military bases and assets in Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan. In a statement published by the IRGC’s official media outlet, Sepah News, on Friday, the group said the new attacks were a response to what it termed US ‘crimes’ against Iran. The IRGC claimed its forces attacked and destroyed a ‘very large’ US ammunition depot at the Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait using ‘advanced and very heavy’ kamikaze drones. The IRGC added that its forces also launched attacks on several facilities housing US troops at the base, resulting in casualties. Furthermore, IRGC forces completed a previous military operation targeting the data centre of US company Amazon in Bahrain, destroying the remaining buildings, the IRGC added. The IRGC further claimed to have destroyed three US ammunition and equipment depots at Camp Al-Adiri in Kuwait, and attacked the watchtower of the US Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain, causing severe damage. The IRGC also stated its air forces launched a ‘devastating’ attack on the Al-Azraq Air Base in Jordan, causing severe damage to a number of US fighter jets. The IRGC added that barracks housing US troops at the air base were also attacked, resulting in casualties among US personnel. According to the IRGC, its forces launched a ‘surprise’ operation against US military positions in Erbil, the capital of Iraq’s Kurdistan Region, successfully destroying a Patriot air defence system and a spy balloon, as well as attacking facilities housing US troops. The IRGC also announced its air defence systems successfully intercepted a US cruise missile over Kahnuj County in southeastern Iran on Thursday night. Earlier on Friday, the Iranian Army announced in a statement on its official website that its forces had attacked a number of ‘important’ US military centres in Jordan and Bahrain in a series of new drone strikes. Meanwhile, US Central Command (CENTCOM) wrote on the social media platform X early Friday that its forces had ‘successfully completed strikes against Iran for 13 consecutive nights.’ The statement also noted that US forces had struck ‘Iranian military command centres, drone storage facilities, communication networks, coastal surveillance posts, and maritime capabilities to further reduce the threat posed by Iran to civilian mariners and commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.’ According to the latest data released by Iran’s Ministry of Health, at least 55 people have been killed and 629 others injured in US strikes against Iran since 27 June. The US military has launched several waves of strikes against provinces in southern Iran in recent days, calling the attacks a response to actions by Iranian forces targeting ships in the Strait of Hormuz, and aimed at ‘degrading Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping.’ Iran retaliated with a series of missile and drone attacks targeting US bases and military facilities in the region.
