IRGC claims attack on US military bases in Kuwait

Istanbul (ANTARA) – Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed to have launched an attack on two American military bases in Kuwait in the early hours of Monday.

In its statement, the IRGC said it had “completely destroyed” fuel tanks and a Patriot air defence system at Ali Al-Salem Air Base.

The IRGC also claimed to have destroyed a strategic FPS radar system at Ahmed Al-Jaber Air Base.

According to the IRGC, the attack was carried out by its air force in the third phase of an operation it calls “an eye for an eye”.

The military operation, according to the IRGC, is a response to American military action against Iran and is still ongoing.

The IRGC also warned the United States not to increase its involvement in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran stressed it would not allow foreign military interference to continue along the strategic shipping lane.

The statement was issued shortly before the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the end of its latest wave of military attacks against Iran.

Tensions in the region have risen in recent days following mutual attacks between the United States and Iran.

On Sunday, Iran said it had attacked American military facilities in Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Jordan and Oman in retaliation for Washington’s strikes on targets inside Iranian territory.

Meanwhile, CENTCOM said the latest American attacks were aimed at further weakening Iran’s ability to attack civilian sailors and merchant vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

In a separate statement, CENTCOM said the operation had been completed and had hit dozens of targets across various locations using precision-guided munitions.
