IRGC Claims 200 US Troops Killed in Operation Nasr 2
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has released a comprehensive assessment of the damage suffered by US military forces during fifteen days of retaliatory strikes in Operation Nasr 2. The report claims that 200 US troops were killed in the attacks on bases in Gulf states by Iran recently.
In a statement to Tasnim News Agency on Saturday, IRGC spokesman Brigadier General Hossein Mohebi stated that the operation targeted American military bases in various areas which Iran claims are used to launch attacks against the country. Mohebi said the Iranian strikes damaged or destroyed various US air assets.
According to him, the assets hit included 11 fighter jets and helicopters, 17 reconnaissance and operational drones, eight aerial refuelling aircraft, and four heavy military helicopters. Additionally, Iran claims to have successfully destroyed one F-15 fighter jet located inside a hardened aircraft shelter, one P-8 Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft, and one C-17 Globemaster military transport aircraft. Mohebi added that eight other aircraft remained intact after the strikes.
Beyond air assets, Iran also claims to have targeted US radar, command, and air defence networks. According to Mohebi, the strikes destroyed seven command and control centres, six Patriot defence system radar units, eight early warning radars, seven air defence missile radars, five long-range radar installations, five FPS and FPS-117 radar systems, three air and maritime surveillance radars, and three satellite communication systems.
Iran also claims to have struck the logistical infrastructure supporting US military operations in the region. Mohebi stated the strikes destroyed six MQ-9 Reaper drone hangars, five fighter jet hangars, four hardened aircraft shelters, one F-15 preparation hangar, one drone hangar containing eight unmanned aerial vehicles, and one hangar housing a P-8 Poseidon aircraft. Furthermore, six aircraft parking areas and runways, four HIMARS rocket launchers, and four Patriot air defence systems were also reportedly destroyed.
The IRGC also claims to have destroyed 17 weapons depots, aircraft spare parts supplies, naval equipment, 12 fuel storage tanks, one fuel jetty, and one aircraft carrier refuelling facility.
