IRGC announces largest military operation following martyrdom of Khamenei

Tehran (ANTARA) – The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran announced on Saturday the commencement of “the most brutal offensive operation in the history of the Iranian armed forces” following confirmation of the martyrdom of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Iranian state television previously reported that Khamenei was killed in attacks by Israel and the United States. Iran’s Tasnim news agency stated that Khamenei was martyred in his office on Saturday morning.

“Within moments, the most brutal offensive operation in the history of the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran against Israel and American terrorist bases will commence,” the IRGC statement said, as quoted by Iran’s state television.

On Saturday, the US and Israel launched a series of attacks against Iranian targets, including Tehran, resulting in damage and civilian casualties.

In retaliation, Iran launched missile strikes against Israeli territory as well as against US military facilities in the Middle East region.
