IRGC: 31 ships transit Strait of Hormuz under coordination by Iran's Revolutionary Guards Navy
Tehran (ANTARA) – The Navy of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) says that 31 ships, including oil tankers, container ships and commercial vessels, have transited the Strait of Hormuz in the past 24 hours under the coordination and protection of its forces. In a statement published on IRGC’s official media Sepah News, the IRGC Navy said that despite an American military effort, and the ‘unprecedented insecurity’ it has generated in regional waters, particularly in the Strait of Hormuz, its forces are striving to create a clear and safe passage for ship traffic and the continuation of global trade. Iran tightened its control over the Strait of Hormuz from 28 February, when the country blocked safe passage for ships owned by or affiliated with Israel and the United States following the joint US-Israeli attack in Iranian territory. The United States has also imposed a naval blockade of the strait, preventing ships sailing to and from Iranian ports from traversing the waterway.
