Irfan Hakim Moved to Tears During Visit to Karawang Prison's Rehabilitation Farm

Celebrity and presenter Irfan Hakim described an unforgettable experience after visiting LASKAR Farm (Assimilation and Education Facility) at Karawang Class IIA Prison. He came to see the livestock operation managed by inmates but left with a profound lesson in gratitude and second chances.

Accompanied by Head of Karawang Prison Ma’ruf Prasetyo, Irfan toured the productive use of seven hectares of land. He observed that the inmates not only work in animal husbandry but also participate in various rehabilitation activities, including scouting, sports, skills training, barista courses, arts, and religious guidance.

Irfan noted that the programmes implemented at the prison are a tangible realisation of the 15 Action Programmes of Minister of Immigration and Corrections Agus Andrianto, supporting President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita vision, particularly in the area of national food security. “Every inch of land is utilised. I saw for myself how empty land has been transformed into rice fields, gardens, and farms, all productive. This is not just rehabilitation; it is a real contribution to food security,” he said.

He also praised the leadership of Minister Agus Andrianto and Secretary General Asep Kurnia for driving these impactful programmes. The visit took an emotional turn when Irfan witnessed inmates using a special telecommunications booth to make video calls with their families. Tearing up, he spoke to an inmate’s child, advising them to wait patiently for their father.

Karawang Prison Head Ma’ruf Prasetyo emphasised that the LASKAR Farm programme is designed to build character, responsibility, and discipline while supporting the government’s Asta Cita food security goals. Irfan concluded his visit with a deep sense of gratitude, stating that the rehabilitation programmes provide new hope for inmates and deliver real benefits to the wider community.
