The government, alongside capital market regulators, has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining stability and investor confidence amid global economic pressures, geopolitical dynamics, and rising risks of capital outflows from emerging markets. Capital market reforms are seen as a strategic step to enhance Indonesia’s competitiveness while sustaining national investment growth momentum.

This was highlighted at the Indonesia Investor Relations Forum (IRF) 2026, themed “Capital Market Reforms to Enhance Confidence in the Era of Global Uncertainty”, organised by Kitacomm and SUAR.id with support from the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI), held at the BEI Main Hall in Jakarta on Monday (11/5).

Representing the Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Special Staff to the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs on Productivity Development and Economic Competitiveness, Evita Manthovani, stated that Indonesia remains capable of maintaining economic stability amid global uncertainties. According to her, the national economic fundamentals remain relatively strong, with market valuations deemed attractive to investors.

Evita spotlighted several capital market reform measures that have received positive attention from global market players, including the increase in the share free float requirement from 7.5% to 15%, as well as the rise in the RTI 45 share allocation for pension funds and insurance companies from 8% to 20%. These policies are viewed as part of efforts to improve accessibility and liquidity in Indonesia’s capital market.

“Looking ahead, Indonesia’s financing needs are projected to increase significantly, from Rp7,400 trillion to Rp9,200 trillion by 2029. Therefore, maintaining investor confidence and strengthening the appeal of the capital market is crucial,” said Evita.

She added that Indonesia has both the space and responsibility to demonstrate to global markets that its economic and capital market reform agenda is progressing consistently and sustainably.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Board of Commissioners, Friderica Widyasari Dewi, assessed that Indonesia’s capital market still has a strong domestic foundation amid global volatility, particularly supported by the continuous growth of domestic investors.

According to her, strengthening the domestic investor base, both retail and institutional, is key to maintaining national financial market stability.

“As long as Indonesia’s economic fundamentals remain solid, the capital market will also retain strong resilience,” said Friderica.

She also emphasised the importance of transparent and collaborative communication among regulators, issuers, investors, media, and all capital market stakeholders in preserving public trust in Indonesia’s capital market industry.

“A healthy capital market requires healthy communication. Because communication shapes perspectives, and perspectives shape trust,” she said.

Investor Relations Deemed Increasingly Strategic

IRF 2026 is a continuation of the inaugural Indonesia Investor Relations Forum (IRF) 2025, organised by Kitacomm together with RAC Capital with support from the Indonesia Stock Exchange.

In its first edition, IRF 2025 featured the theme “Decoding the New Era of Investor Relations” and focused on strengthening investor relations practices, corporate governance (GCG), and the implementation of ESG in Indonesia’s capital market.

The forum was attended by more than 250 company leaders and capital market players, serving as one of the initiatives to promote more strategic and transparent standardisation of investor relations practices in Indonesia. Building on this initiative, IRF 2026 addresses capital market reforms and strengthening investor confidence amid rising global uncertainties, shifts in investment patterns, and the growth of domestic retail investors.

As a pioneer in public relations consulting in Indonesia focused on the capital market industry for over 25 years, Kitacomm views the role of investor relations as increasingly strategic, not merely as a corporate communication function but also as a bridge of trust between companies, investors, and all stakeholders in the capital market ecosystem.

“In the midst of global volatility and rapidly moving market dynamics, information openness, credible communication, and message consistency are key factors in building investor trust and maintaining the reputation of public companies,” said Henny Lestari, Founder & CEO of Kitacomm. According to her, IRF 2026 is expected to serve as a space for collaboration and exchange of perspectives among regulators, issuers, investors, media, and market players to strengthen transparency and communication practices in Indonesia’s capital market.

The forum featured several key capital market stakeholders in Indonesia, including OJK Board of Commissioners Chairman Friderica Widyasari Dewi, Special Staff to the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Evita Manthovani, House of Representatives Commission XI Chairman Mukhamad Misbakhun, Acting President Director of the Indonesia Stock Exchange Jeffrey Hendrik, Chief Investment Officer of BPI Danantara Indonesia Pandu Sjahrir, President Director of Mandiri Sekuritas Oki Ramadhana, President Director of PT Super Bank Indonesia Tbk Tigor M. Siahaan, and President Director of Schroders Indonesia Michael T. Tjoajadi. The panel discussion at IRF 2026 was moderated by Sutta Dharmasaputra, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of SUAR.id.

The event, supported by the Indonesia Stock Exchange, Mandiri Sekuritas, BCA, Amman Minerals, Pelindo, Telkom Indonesia, and OCBC, was attended by more than 200 participants comprising investor relations practitioners, directors of listed companies, regulators, institutional investors, analysts, and national economic and business media.
