Ireland Rejects Majority of Palestinian Visa Applications for First Time in a Decade

For the first time in a decade, Ireland has refused more Palestinian visa applications than it has approved. According to a report by the newspaper The Ditch, the refusal rate has surpassed 50 per cent. Irish government data show that 63 per cent of Palestinians applying for short-stay visas to remain in Ireland were rejected, the report said. The media report also noted that the visa refusal rate for Palestinian applicants has quadrupled since 2023. The report, citing The University Times, Ireland’s largest student newspaper, also highlighted a sharp increase in the number of Palestinians refused study visas for Ireland. The report further recalled that Israeli tourists are still able to travel to Ireland without a visa.
