Iraq Reopens Flight Route with Kuwait
Baghdad (ANTARA) – Iraq’s Transport Ministry announced on Thursday that the flight route between Iraq and Kuwait had reopened after being temporarily suspended because of developments in the regional security situation and recent tensions.
In a statement, the ministry said the route’s reopening took effect on Thursday at 14:00 local time (11:00 GMT). Operational arrangements are overseen by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and coordinated with Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates.
Air traffic will be managed along designated routes and flight levels to ensure aviation safety, the statement said. Implementation will be phased in and continuously monitored and evaluated.
The reopening comes amid growing regional instability, including continuing tensions around the Strait of Hormuz and a sharp escalation in military clashes between the Saudi-led coalition and Yemen’s Houthi group.
