Iran's Vice President: We Will Soon Celebrate a Great Victory Over Our Enemies!
Iran’s Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref stated that his country will soon celebrate a “great victory” against its enemies, after years of pressure have passed and the lifting of a series of sanctions that have ensnared Tehran.
“The Iranian people are the winners of the Ramadan War,” said Aref during a visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Group, as reported by Press TV on Friday (8/5/2026).
Aref, who officially serves as Iran’s First Vice President, used the term “Ramadan War” to refer to the war triggered by combined attacks from the United States (US) and Israel against Iran since 28 February. The war began while the holy month of Ramadan was underway.
“We will soon hold celebrations for our victory, and the sanctions and pressures imposed on the Iranian nation over the past several years will be lifted with the great victory of the Iranian nation,” Aref stated.
The war between Iran and the US and Israel was suspended with a ceasefire since 8 April. Peace negotiations were then held in Islamabad following the ceasefire, but they failed to produce an agreement to permanently end the war.
US President Donald Trump subsequently extended the ceasefire indefinitely to allow time for new negotiations.
This week, Trump expressed his belief that a deal with Iran is “very possible.” However, he also threatened to resume attacks on the country if negotiations fail.
Despite the US leader’s optimism, the Iranian government has not yet responded to the new US proposal.
Aref’s latest statement on the victory was made during his visits to various Iranian executive bodies, where he expressed confidence that Tehran will be able to reconstruct industrial zones damaged by the war.
“With faith in God and relying on domestic capacities, there is no concern about reconstructing the units damaged by the third imposed war,” he said, using another term to refer to the war against the US and Israel.
The war was called the “third imposed war” because it broke out after the 12-day war in June last year and after the Iran-Iraq war in 1980-1988.
Aref also touched on Iran’s strategy in the Strait of Hormuz, a vital waterway through which about one-fifth of the world’s oil supply passes. “The Strait of Hormuz is Iran’s absolute property,” he emphasised.
“Over the past several years, we have not utilised this strategic blessing, but now we are determined to control this strait,” Aref stated.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran, from legal, strategic, and international economic perspectives, has decided to manage the Strait of Hormuz, and this management can guarantee the security of this waterway and all countries in the region,” he said.
