Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, has called upon the leaders of Islamic nations to strengthen unity in order to face what he described as their true common enemy. In a message delivered on Sunday (30/8), Khamenei explicitly accused the United States and Israel of being the primary threats to the unity of the Muslim Ummah.

The appeal was made as part of the commemoration of ‘Islamic Unity Week’. Through the national IRIB television broadcast, Khamenei emphasised the importance of empathy and cooperation among Muslim nations, particularly in the West Asian and Gulf regions.

“My repeated recommendation and empathy to the leaders of Islamic nations is that they must be able to see the true enemy, understand the enemy’s plans, and fight against them,” Khamenei stated in the message.

Khamenei asserted that the unity of the Muslim Ummah is an absolute prerequisite for building a strong and globally influential Islamic civilisation. He warned that the US and Israel are not only opponents of Iran but enemies of the entire Islamic world.

“The US and Israel are the true enemies of this unity and friendship,” he asserted. He added that the strategy of both countries is designed to divide the friendship between Muslim nations.

This stern statement comes amidst the fluctuating security situation in the Middle East. Despite recent attempts at peace through a memorandum of understanding in June, regional stability has been disrupted since last month. Recent tensions eased briefly after US President Donald Trump abruptly ordered a cessation of attacks to create space for diplomatic dialogue to end the prolonged war.
