Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei Accuses US and Israel of Seeking to Divide Nation

Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, has levelled harsh accusations against the United States (US) and Israel. In a written message read on state television on Thursday, 28 May 2026, he stated that both nations are attempting to destabilise the Islamic Republic of Iran and force the nation to submit.

Khamenei asserted that the enemies’ current strategy is to create internal divisions after other pressure tactics have failed. He cited a systematic plan to incite disintegration within Iranian society.

“The enemies’ blind plan, following forced war, economic pressure, and political and propaganda encirclement, is to create division and disintegration,” Khamenei said in the message. He added that this move is intended to compensate for military defeats.

The written message was released to mark the anniversary of the establishment of the Islamic Republic’s national legislative body. In his address, Khamenei called for unity and cohesion among all Iranians to counter external threats.

To date, Mojtaba Khamenei has not appeared in public since assuming office in March. His physical absence continues to fuel speculation, though his written communications remain the primary reference for Tehran’s strategic and ideological policies amid regional conflict.
