Iran's Supreme Leader Khamenei Among Officials Killed in US-Israeli Strikes
Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has been killed in a war initiated by Israeli and American strikes against Iran. Alongside Khamenei, several government officials, including his daughter, son-in-law, and grandson, were also killed in the attacks.
US President Donald Trump announced Khamenei’s death resulting from Israeli and American strikes on Iran on Saturday, 28 February 2026.
“Khamenei, one of the most evil people in history, is dead,” Trump said on his Truth Social network, according to AFP.
On Sunday, 1 March, Iran confirmed the death of its Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, following the strikes. Iran also announced a 40-day period of national mourning.
According to CNN and AFP, in addition to Khamenei, his daughter, son-in-law, and grandson also perished. Additionally, IRGC Commander Mohammad Pakpour and Defence Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh were killed.
