Iran's Security Council: Criminal Zionist Regime Will Not Be Safe from Our Fighters

The head of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr, has asserted that his country will respond to any attack on its infrastructure, including by striking Israel. The statement came after Tehran and Washington became embroiled in renewed fighting this week. “Any attack on infrastructure will be retaliated against, and the criminal Zionist regime responsible for these atrocities will not be safe from the response of our fighters,” he said in a statement broadcast by state television. US President Donald Trump said on Friday that the US had agreed to resume negotiations with Iran but reiterated that the ceasefire between the two countries had ended. “Iran asked us to resume ‘talks.’ We have agreed, but the United States has told them, firmly, that the Ceasefire is OVER!” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform. Fighting flared again this week between the US and Iran, marking the most significant exchange of fire since the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding on 17 June, aimed at formalising the April ceasefire and guiding talks to end the war conclusively. The US military carried out massive overnight strikes between Wednesday and Thursday, saying it targeted 90 military sites. However, the Islamic Republic accused Washington of also targeting civilian infrastructure to divert attention from the funeral of the late supreme leader Ali Khamenei.
